Pastor Selection Committee is looking for:
Brazos Bend Baptist Church, located in a rural growing community near the Brazos Bend State Park, is seeking a Pastor who feels called into the ministry of our church.
Job Status –Part time with faith based initiative to become full time within three (3) years.
Job description -- The pastor is responsible for providing leadership to equip the congregation, church organizations and church staff in all areas of ministry so that all are prepared to perform their tasks and function effectively as a New Testament church.
The new Pastor will embrace a conversational, topical, and expository style of teaching/preaching focused on helping people grow deeper in their understanding of Scripture, while providing a foundation for them to grow spiritually.
As the leader of the pastoral ministries in the church, he works with the elders/deacons and ministerial staff:
- To proclaim the gospel to believers and unbelievers;
- As an under shepherd of God to train and provide leadership to lead the church in the achievement of its mission;
- To care for the church’s members and for other persons in the community, and
- To be infused within the community.
Responsibilities
- To earnestly carry on a preaching, teaching, and training ministry, with the aim of bringing each member to a place of spiritual maturity and fruitfulness
- To set an example in Christian living and dedication;
- To oversee the administration of the ordinances and church business
- To guide and attend all committee meetings
- To endeavor to fill the pulpit on a regular and consistent basis.
- To lead the congregation in evangelism and soul winning
- Visitation in the community, hospitalized and sick.
Requirements
The new Pastor will be an effective communicator, preacher-teacher, and an equipper. Formal education is not a predetermining factor for the selection of the new Pastor. However, it is likely that they will hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. An advanced degree in biblical studies, divinity, or seminary training is preferred, but not required.
Family - Ideally, we would like someone who is married and whose marriage reflects church values. If married, the spouse's faith and participation in church will be a factor to be considered. Brazos Bend Baptist Church desires the Pastor and family to reside within the zoned Needville Independent School District as soon as reasonably possible.
Our Church
Our church has been blessed with the same Pastor for 28 years. Our Sunday Anglo worship attendance is between 55-70 per week, and Hispanic worship average is 25-45. Our Wednesday night services host a dynamic kids and youth program with approximately 45 young people in attendance. We desire to grow our family base in church services and commitment.
