Thanks for taking time to learn about our church.

Services:
Sundays: Sunday School: 9:30 AM, Worship: 10:30 AM
Wednesdays: Prayer & Bible Study: 7:00 PM

Mission:
The mission of Brazos Bend Baptist Church is to help people in the surrounding community experience abundant life by coming to a saving knowledge of Christ Jesus.

Beliefs:
Brazos Bend Baptist Church holds the following as truth:

*The Lord Jesus Christ is one with the Father and the Holy Spirit. He is, was and forever shall be God.

*Jesus Christ is the one mediator between man and God and desires everyone to have a personal relationship with Him.

*Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, sacrificially died for our sins, was resurrected and now reigns victorious forevermore.

*The Holy Bible is inerrant and divinely inspired by God Almighty. It is sufficient and authoritative as a complete guide to our daily living.

*Man is sinful and without hope. Each of us deserve death and separation from God.

*Salvation is a free, eternal gift of God. One must repent of sin, “die to themselves,” and trust in Jesus Christ alone. Jesus, through His death on the cross, provided salvation for all.  A true believer cannot lose their salvation; it is secure, however, one may lose or ignore the “joy of their salvation" and choose a sinful life.

*Jesus wishes no one to perish, for He is love. Yet those who reject Him will perish for their sins.
*Baptism is by immersion under water after one has accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. This is the way Jesus was baptized. "For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ …." Col. 2:12 (GN)

*We recognize that giving back 10% of income earned is the biblical standard of giving. It is God’s money to begin with, and He only asks for a tenth of it back. "A Tithe of everything you produce belongs to the Lord: it is holy to the Lord." Lev. 27:30 (If you're visiting us, please feel no obligation to tithe.)

Pastor:
The church's pastor, Brother Bob Freeman, is a graduate of East Texas Baptist University in 1978 and did undergraduate work at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Houston. Brazos Bend Baptist Church is Brother Bob's 4th church to serve as pastor. The Lord has blessed Brazos Bend with a pastor who delivers messages in a dynamic style deeply rooted in Bible truths that have practical applications for living today.  A spiritual leader of this caliber is rare in this size church and is more evidence that the Lord intends for the Brazos Bend Baptist Church to grow.

Members:
Brazos Bend Baptist Church members come from a wide range of backgrounds being raised in many different Christian and non-Christian denominations. They span the spectrum of people in the community but there is a higher proportion of young families than most churches.

There is a great sense of fellowship at this church which goes beyond superficial conversation to genuine concern with members ministering to each other. Visitors are always welcome at Brazos Bend Baptist Church whose members strive to make everyone feel at home.

We encourage an informal atmosphere at Brazos Bend and all people are encouraged to "come as you are". The church has also maintained a tradition of dressing casual at all services.

Worship:
Each Sunday the church praises the Lord Jesus Christ through music, prayer, testimonies, and listening to an inspired message giving insight to God's Word. We also make an active effort to avoid falling into routine religious activities "according to the tradition of men" (Colossians 2:8).

Music:
The Lord has blessed Brazos Bend Baptist Church with a great worship experience in music and several outstanding instrumentalists to accompany praise songs. The Psalms declares to us that we should praise the Lord with “everything that has breath.” Our church believes in a service with both contemporary and traditional (hymns) music played within the same service; we don't split up based on music preferences. The Brazos Bend Baptist Church praise team is open to all who want to sing, come join us!

Sunday School:
Biblical education is a top priority at Brazos Bend Baptist Church.  Bible study classes are conducted from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. each Sunday. There are five classes for children and youth. Adults have two classes, one just for women and the other for both men and women.

Prayer/Bible Study:
Adults meet each Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM for prayer and Bible study led by the pastor. Participants are regularly blessed through witnessing the Lord's intervention in the lives of those for whom prayers are made.

Youth Program: The church has a great youth leader in Tim.  The church youth meet Wednesdays at 7:00 PM and Sundays at 9:30 A.M. to fellowship, praise God, and learn about His Word. For more information about the BBBC Youth, click here.

Nursery: A nursery is provided for Sunday School and worship services each Sunday morning and for most special events. Also, nursery is provided for Wednesday night activities.

Community Outreach:
The church has a vested interest in the spiritual condition of the Brazos Bend area. Direct mail campaigns are conducted to keep people knowledgeable of opportunities to get involved with the church through special events. Members conduct lifestyle and friendship evangelism to help others see what it means to have Christ in us.

Special Programs:
Special programs are conducted throughout the year like Vacation Bible School, music programs, family activities, movie nights, fellowship meals, and spiritual revivals in which extra effort is made to encourage visitors. The church, however, is always open to visitors.

History of our Church:
The church had its beginning in the manner of the early New Testament churches, by first meeting in private homes when Pastor Orville Roberts started a home Bible Study September, 1986. On January 18, 1987 the church began to meet in two mobile homes on land donated by Mary Belle Day. The church purchased a historic chapel building from the George Foundation which was originally built 1917 in Beasley.

The first service held in the chapel at its present site was on Easter Sunday, 1987. Later that year, Bob Freeman was called as pastor. The church became self-supporting in 1988. The church replaced the two mobile homes in 1988 with an education building constructed by the Texas Baptist Men, a missionary group of retired men who travel around the country in RVs helping to erect church buildings. In 1994, the Texas Baptist Men returned to Brazos Bend to help with a new building that seats 250 people and adds more classrooms.

The Lord had blessed Brazos Bend Baptist Church with growth to the point where the chapel's 90 seat capacity was not sufficient. The new building was constructed with growth in mind so that it can be remodeled to seat 250 total by converting classrooms to expanded auditorium space, which was done about 10 years ago. The Lord's will was clearly seen in the construction of the new building through a donation of the exact number and size of pews needed from the New Gulf Baptist Church, the raising of funds, and many other providential occurrences.

The original chapel was sold to a private party and moved to its present location on Sawmill road. The church has since then completed a new fellowship building as well as a youth building and converted the previous fellowship hall into much needed classrooms.  All this construction was done in phases using faith financing to avoid debt.

The Southern Baptist Convention:
The Brazos Bend Baptist Church is part of an association of churches that make up the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). This association provides a cooperative program to support local and foreign missions, teaching materials, and other services to assist its member churches. All Southern Baptist churches are autonomous and not governed by the SBC or any authority on earth. The head of the church is Jesus Christ. Decisions are made at Brazos Bend Baptist Church by members voting on committee recommendations

Your Invitation:
If all this sounds good to you and you're thinking, "but I'm not a Baptist"; think again, our interest is not in making Baptists. Our goal is to bring people to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. ...So come check us out, we do love the Lord!   Do not feel compelled to tithe when visiting the church. We encourage our members to tithe, but do not feel compelled when visiting us as a guest.
